Last Legends - The Score (Music Review)
I first discovered The Score in 2017 and they quickly became one of my favourite artists. Since 2017, their songs have constantly been on my Top Songs every Spotify Wrapped with the songs Stronger and Never Going Back each making it onto those playlists three years in a row. The Score themselves have been in my Top 5 Artists basically every year since, except for 2023. So I was really glad to see them releasing music again.
Last Legends is The Score’s fourth album, consisting of only nine songs. Out of those nine, five were released. This is actually something that is fairly common for The Score’s album releases. Their first album Atlas included songs from their EPs Myth & Legends and Unstoppable; the second album Carry On included songs from the Stay and Pressure EPs; and album number three Metamorph included songs from the Chrysalis EP as well as the three singles from prior to its release. So while disappointing that there wasn’t as many new songs as on previous album releases, it is not surprising that the tactics used during previous album releases are being used with this one.
Out of the four songs on Last Legends that I hadn’t heard, Better Days is probably my favourite. It reminds me a lot of their songs Believe and Tightrope from Atlas. Believe was one of my favourite songs from that album. There’s basically two types of songs that The Score do - ‘adrenaline pumping fight songs’ and ‘promising to be there to pick you up when you’re depressed’ songs. Better Days falls into the latter. Most of the other songs on Last Legends fall into the former.
Overall, Last Legends is alright. It’s what I’ve come to expect from The Score. Wish there was more unheard songs on this album though. Would have made the album a lot more interesting I think.
