Queen B is a novella for Juno Dawson’s Her Majesty’s Royal Coven trilogy. It acts as a sort of prequel to the series. Queen B is set shortly after the beheading of Anne Boleyn and follows Lady Grace Fairfax, one of Anne Boleyn’s ladies and a member of Anne’s Coven. The remaining members of Anne’s Coven know that one of them is the reason their High Priestess is dead. And to betray one’s coven is to end up dead. Much like Anne, and Anne’s plan to get a witch onto the throne.
The story flits between Grace’s pursuit of Anne’s betrayer and the history between Grace and Anne - how they met and became friends, fell in love, how Anne became Queen, the birth of Anne’s daughter Elizabeth and the struggle to conceive a second child.
The point of Queen B is to just add some background lore for the starting point of the group that becomes known as Her Majesty’s Royal Coven. It gives a interesting angle that witches and warlocks didn’t always work together. This is something that I feel comes into play a little bit during the main trilogy.
